Rava Appam

No of Serve: 15 Appam

Preparation Time: 10 mins

Cooking Time: 3 mins

Main Ingredients:

·        Rava / Sooji  - 1 Cup
·        Sugar / Powdered Jaggery  - 1 Cup
·        Maida – 1 Cup
·        Cardamom Powder – 1 tsp
·        Milk – ½ Cup
·        Water – 1 Cup
·        Oil

Method:

Take a bowl and mix Rava, Sugar, Maida, and Cardamom powder.
(I used sugar as this is a quick version of Appam).

Pour milk and whisk everything well without any lumps.

Allow it to rest for a minimum of 30 mins.
Check the batter consistency and adjust with little water. The batter has to be thick.

Heat oil in a pan and pour the batter into the hot oil using a ladle/spoon.
Fry in medium heat. Flip over and fry golden. (Appam with sugar will be little brown in Color).

Extra...

You can add some pieces/ Grated coconut to the batter for extra taste.

Mash and add a banana to the batter for banana-flavored Appam.

To use jaggery, melt the jaggery with little water on the stove (No string consistency). Pour it to the Rava & madia mixture before adding milk/water.

Instead to frying in oil, you can also cook it in paniyaram pan.

Quick Rava Appam is ready!!!
